Stripe, PaySera, Paypal – payment system for business
Running an online business requires convenient and efficient methods of accepting payments. Among the many options, three popular players stand out: Stripe, Paysera, and PayPal. Each of these systems has unique features tailored to different business needs. Let’s examine the characteristics of each.
Stripe for business
Stripe is a popular payment system widely used for accepting payments using debit and credit cards. It’s available in 46 countries, including EU countries, the USA, the UK, and others. Stripe supports over 135 currencies, providing the ability to globally cover your business.
Furthermore, Stripe offers features like invoice creation and payment pages with Stripe. This is a simple and effective way to collect both one-time and recurring payments. As a bonus, you can integrate Stripe into your mobile applications on iOS and Android platforms, making the payment process even more convenient.
One of the key advantages of Stripe is its variety of payment methods: Apple Pay, Google Pay, Visa, MasterCard, and others. You can also use specialized methods like Affirm for US purchases and WeChat Pay for WeChat users.
Additionally, Stripe provides unique capabilities for marketplaces through the Stripe Connect service. This allows you to easily manage payments and commissions among different participants on your platform.
However, it should be noted that Stripe doesn’t operate in Ukraine. Ukrainian entrepreneurs need to register a company abroad to use this system. We at Finevolution can assist with this 😉
Paysera for business
Paysera Checkout is a payment system with 16 years of experience in the market and oversight from the Bank of Lithuania. It offers the ability to accept payments through Maestro, Visa, and Mastercard. With Paysera, you can operate in the European market and accept payments from customers in different countries.
The fees of this system depend on turnover and payment type:
- For EU-issued cards: from 1.25% to 1.45%.
- For cards issued outside the EU: from 2.5% to 2.9%.
- Minimum commission: 0.15 EUR.
- Chargeback processing: 30 EUR.
Important! When receiving payments by card, a portion of the amount is reserved: 100% for three days and 5% for three months. The reserve period and percentage may vary depending on the project type.
An interesting bonus is that Paysera allows accepting payments through third-party services: German banks (giropay, Instant transfer), Austria, as well as payment systems from New Zealand and Australia, and SafetyPay. The total commission in this case includes the bank’s or third-party service’s commission along with Paysera’s percentage, where Paysera’s service cost ranges from 0.5% to 1.2% (minimum 0.1 EUR, maximum 0.5 EUR).
Furthermore, Paysera offers easy API integration for a quick start in accepting payments for services.
How to Start Accepting Payments?
- Open a business account with Paysera.
- Order the payment acceptance service.
- Provide all necessary information about your business, including return policy, terms of use, and website owner confirmation. Documents confirming the office space lease agreement may also be required.
- Integrate through API.
PayPal for business
PayPal is one of the largest electronic payment systems, operating successfully in 202 countries worldwide. It has over 346 million registered users and supports transactions in over 100 currencies.
This payment system is known for its fast and simple transfers within its platform. To make a transfer, you only need to know the recipient’s email address. After receiving funds in your account, you can withdraw them to your bank card with just a click.
For Ukrainian users, PayPal allows the opening of personal accounts. However, unfortunately, there is currently no registration option for local businesses. Therefore, integration with PayPal for Ukrainian businesses is only available through registering a foreign company. This enables businesses to accept customer payments using various methods, including debit and credit cards, as well as payment services like iDeal, SOFORT, and Blik.
- For transfers in euros, the cost of the operation is 0.35 euros plus 3.4% of the amount. If the transfer is in US dollars, an additional $0.3 + 3.4% is added to the commission.
- The limit for transfers through PayPal is $10,000 USD per transaction without providing additional information and up to $60,000 USD with the possibility of providing identification or bank account documents.
- The platform also offers the ability to accept payments through mobile apps, send invoices with payment links, and even display QR codes that customers can scan using the PayPal app to pay for goods and services.
- Additionally, PayPal provides payout services for marketplaces, simplifying transaction processing between sellers and buyers.
Business users’ fees vary depending on factors such as market, payment type, national and international transactions, and more. You can learn more about the fees on the PayPal website.
