E-residency: Volume #2
Probably there are very few people left who have not heard of Estonian e-Residency. The electronic residence program established in 2014 allows non-residents of Estonia (citizens of other countries) to have full access to registration of companies, banking services, notarial services and even tax payments, completely remotely. To be brief, it allows all entrepreneurs “from the outside” to become mobile and independent of their place of residence.
It would seem that there’s nothing to surprise European people anymore. Nothing of the sort. Since the end of last year, a new contender for the title of “the most open country for business” has appeared. Who do you think that is? Most likely you did not guess … it’s neither Poland, nor Germany, nor even Switzerland.
Azerbaijan e-m Residency
Yes, for those who are not aware of that it’s such a surprise. Azerbaijan is the second country that introduced not only e-Residency, but m-Residency, what’s more!
What a digitization, you might think. Simple e-citizenship is no longer in fashion, let’s have a new era of mobile residency.
A little comeback to 2018. On October 24, 2018, the second international conference “Digital Trade Hub of Azerbaijan” took place in Baku, where launch of electronic and mobile residence was officially introduced. Such a solution may well be a super-powerful and well-developed trading hub from Azerbaijan, because such innovations increase the attractiveness of the country for business. This means that the investment climate will improve, and entrepreneurs from all over the world will be in line for their residency. All this gives some hope.
What’s the difference between e-Residency and m-Residency
- As you know, in the development of e-m Both options have only 6 steps, before receiving m-e Residency: Residency used the technology similar to Mobiil-ID of Estonia, but it is called Asan İmza. Today, this technology allows us to use more than 600 electronic services in Azerbaijan, and in the long run it will help to pass all national procedures of export and import.
In fact, the difference between e-m-Residency is in the user’s preferences.
With the e-option, everything is familiar and understandable, we send documents, get a digital id-card, initialize and use it for our business purposes.
- As for m-Residency everything is the same, but newer. We receive digitalized Asan İmzaSIM-card with mobile identification and, without visiting the country, you have the opportunity to register the company online, carry out online tax and customs transactions, use electronic and mobile banking services, sign contracts online and much more other things.
Both options have only 6 steps, before receiving m-e Residency:
Questions about m-Residency
Such SIM cards can be obtained from all 3 operators of Azerbaijan: Azersel, Baksel, Azerfon.
But nowhere is there any information on how these SIM cards will function in other countries, because roaming has not yet been canceled, or will one have to have an additional phone, only for Asan İmza SIM?
But most likely, m-Residency will remain available only for Azerbaijani citizens while gradually replacing all paper certificates and signatures.
How and where to get e-Residency of Azerbaijan
